Product Features

LIGHT WEIGHT Polystyrene loose-fill is 99.4% air. A typical Christmas gift packed with loose-fill will weigh 1/2 pound less than the same package packed with paper products, thus it saves shipping charges.

REDUCES PACKING MATERIALS
Polystyrene loose-fill is the most effective cushioning material. It absorbs shock, if the package is dropped, it locks the product in place to prevent breakage. Shippers can use smaller cartons and less dunnage when shipping their products.

EASY TO USE
Polystyrene loose-fill is "flowable". Large shippers can "pour" loose-fill into the box. Special handling systems (Dispensing Systems ) eliminate handling and speed up packaging, reducing labor costs.

SAFE
Polystyrene loose-fill does not present any known health threats. Unlike the foam-in-place products, polystyrene loose-fill does not contain diisocyanate. In 1996 OSHA issued an alert (Publication Number 96-111) (NIOSH ALERT) concerning the proper use of products that contain diisocyanate. The alert requested assistance in preventing respiratory diseases, including asthma and death, from this chemical exposure.

REUSABLE
Polystyrene loose-fill is widely reused. Studies by Franklin & Associates report that over 30% of all polystyrene loose-fill is reused. They found that many companies have established reclaim and re-use programs while most consumers save the product to use when shipping gifts, etc.

INEXPENSIVE
Polystyrene loose-fill is the least expensive packaging material. Paper or biodegradable loose-fill products are 20% to 50% more expensive to use than "plastic" peanuts.
